This book provides a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in regional anesthesia.

The rapid progress in identifying new nerve block sites, in particular, would have been unimaginable without the equally remarkable advancements in ultrasound technology over the past twenty years. Innovative anesthetists have successfully applied their anatomical and sonographic knowledge to identify increasingly sophisticated sites for nerve blocks in regional anesthesia and analgesia. It was only through sonography that fascial blocks became possible in the first place. This book therefore addresses individual fascial blocks in detail, highlighting their strengths and limitations and providing insights into potential new block techniques. Established procedures such as brachial plexus anesthesia have also been refined using sonography, significantly increasing their success rates. Furthermore, we address the economic and ecological aspects of regional anesthesia and discuss its application in pediatric anesthesia.
