The Giza Necopolis one of Egypt’s most iconic archaeological sites, is home to hundreds of tombs dating from the Old Kingdom and later periods. Built in the shadow of the royal monuments admired by the entire world, these tombs belong to the people who themselves created and developed the ancient state. The two tombs of Kai´s daughters and featured in this book, were discovered by the world-renowned Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass and his team. The walls of the larger tomb, built of limestone, are covered with scenes and inscriptions in painted relief, while the smaller tomb, made of mud bricks, contains painted scenes that are unprecedented in Old Kingdom art. A beautiful statue depicting Kai with his children was also found in the stone tomb, it is now on display at the Grand Egyptian Museum near the ancient necropolis. The publication is richly illustrated with high-quality, photographs, drawings, and plans.
