João Onofre’s (b. Lisbon, 1976; lives and works there) works are tributes to art history and pop. He gleans what is in danger of being lost right now and translates it into something sublime. His art encourages the beholders to reconsider a past that has faded in collective memory with a critical eye and make peace with it. He makes videos, performances, installations, and much more.
