This volume is a corpus of 2,315 gold coins of the reigns of Gordian III, Philip, Trajan Decius, Trebonianus Gallus and Aemilian (AD 238-53), and is intended as a companion volume to the revised edition of Roman Imperial Coinage IV.3, also available from Spink Books.

During the work of the new edition of RIC the author gathered details of all specimens of gold coins of the period, but the format of RIC did not permit their publication in that volume. A die-study has elucidated questions of dating of the coin issues and all specimens are illustrated in 78 plates. An introduction tackles problems relating to the circulation of gold coins in this period.
