Description:
This book collects Massimo Majowiecki's projects to date. It's a collection that covers a wide range of functions: road bridges, pedestrian bridges, multifunctional pavilions, stadiums with covered stands, some even with retractable roofs, exhibition spaces, tall buildings, and so on. In many of these examples, we see how Majowiecki applied his mathematical skills to define the optimal dimensions of structural elements, taking into account the static and dynamic reactions of wind and seismic effects in three dimensions, thus tackling very complicated and difficult questions. But we quickly realize that the sizing of structural parts is only one component of his design work. We notice that in each project there is great attention to the detail best suited to the individual elements, not only from the standpoint of structural efficiency, but also of feasibility (production practicality), transportation, assembly, and appearance. Broadening our perspective, we understand that from the early design stages of each individual structure, Majowiecki commits all his efforts to finding the structural system and its form that respects not only structural requirements, but also functional, economic, and aesthetic ones.
