Silver was acclaimed as a notable post-modern Tarzan in Spanish reviews. And, in French reviews, Pablo Urbanyi has been compared to Julian Barnes and Tom Sharpe. The novel is inspired by a short story by Franz Kafka, A Report for an Academy, in which an ape captured for a circus learns to speak, write, and deal with civilisation.
