Nicola Laneri is Full Professor of Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East at the University of Catania and Director of the School of Religious Studies (SORS, Florence). As a leading scholar in the fields of material religion and ritual practices, as well as director of major archaeological projects in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Iraq, his research has made significant contributions to both field archaeology and the theoretical understanding of how religious ideas materialised in ancient societies.
